Musky Run makes Dan Small's Holiday Reading List

Jeff Nania’s fourth book in his Northern Lakes Mystery Series is my favorite. In Musky Run, Nania’s protagonist, John Cabrelli, the interim sheriff of fictional Namekagon County, is embroiled in yet another situation that is anything but routine. Olympic medalist Anna MacDonald comes home to Musky Falls to emcee the Great Wilderness Race, but disappears just as a large carnivore starts killing livestock and stalking joggers on the trail. With the race in jeopardy and Anna’s life
in the balance, Cabrelli and the new police chief, his former deputy, team up
to solve this mystery. As with his other novels, Nania’s plot twists and turns in unexpected directions to the very last page.
The epilogue is a stroke of genius that promises new life yet raises another threat to
this beleaguered Northwoods community.
